What happens if someone reports my opinion?

It's quite common within our community to eventually receive an email notification stating that someone has reported you. Don't stress! This can often be due to human error and can usually be resolved in just a few minutes of your time.

While the majority of opinions that get deleted on our platform are due to automated, malicious, and mass-generated content that we remove automatically, we also empower our users to report and respond to their own complaints to defend their reviews and opinions about a store or business.

Why was one of your opinions reported?

US-Reviews is a platform that takes pride in the transparency and honesty of its opinions. This is why we allow all our users to rate, give positive or negative votes on published comments, respond, and create discussions on company pages. Users can also report a publication they believe doesn't comply with our responsible content policy.

Our team carefully evaluates all complaints between users, and some cases are clearer than others when accepting or rejecting a request. Often, a report is due to the use of a swear word, an unfortunate expression, or overly harsh language against the company. In those instances, you will need to edit and correct your review to get it approved again.

In cases where we detect serious violations of our policy, such as:

  • Spam content to third parties
  • Unverified AI-generated content
  • Suspicion of attempting to influence an audience's decision to consume or avoid goods and services from a company listed on US-Reviews

These violations may result in a permanent suspension of the account and the deletion of all opinions posted through that account.

What should I do if my opinion is reported?

If one of your opinions has been reported, you will receive an email explaining the reason for the report and outlining the actions you need to take. At US-Reviews, we believe in human errors and second chances, which is why we offer users the opportunity to appeal our decision if they believe it is unfair or lacks context.

Every time a user is reported, there are three possible outcomes:

  1. Dismiss the complaint - If there are no compelling arguments to remove the written opinion.
  2. Contact both parties or conduct an individual investigation - If the solution is unclear, additional information will be requested to validate the opinion.
  3. Delete the reported review - If clear and compelling reasons are found for this action.
