Customer service experience
I have to say, I was really impressed by the customer service I got from Trip. The team was super attentive and responsive from the get-go. They really went out of their way to fix my issue quickly and effectively. And Charlotte, the manager, was amazing. She stuck by me through it all until everything was taken care of. I'm so grateful for her hard work and professionalism. Trip.com is definitely killing it in the customer service game.
3-year railcard purchase
I just got a 3-year railcard from this site and was super excited about the great deal I got on it. Uploading the necessary documents was a breeze for me since I'm pretty good with technology. But I was bummed out when I found out that the railcard was only in digital form. I tried to put it in my Google wallet, but it turns out I could only get it through the Trip app. The problem was, one of my gadgets couldn't use the app, which really annoyed me.
Railcard purchase, London to Edinburgh train tickets
I bought a railcard on here not too long ago to help me save some cash on train tickets down the line. But, when I tried to book tickets from London to Edinburgh for a July date, I ran into a tech problem. I reached out to customer service through email and live chat multiple times, but didn't hear back soon enough to fix the issue. So, I had to go through another train app to book my tickets, missing out on some discounts. All in all, I was pretty bummed about the lack of good communication and problem-solving.
Online booking for a hotel stay
Customer service was meh until I talked to Alexa. She really listened to me and fixed the problem right away. Thank you, Alexa, for making things better!
Hotel reservation
An error occurred during a booking. I needed to change the date of a reservation. I went on the site, it was allowed, I thought I made the change, the price then changed (dropped) which looked normal as the date was being changed. I booked and then received a confirmation and saw the date had not been altered. I immediately queried this and was told I had not changed the date. Trip.com told me they contacted the hotel but they would not change. I contacted the hotel and they told me Trip.com would not change.
If I did not change the date correctly, why did the price change? Was I going to be overcharged originally?
Although all the correspondence was polite, the basic answer was, your fault, not ours, sorry we can't do anything or rather, we don't want to do anything.
If a website makes mistakes or is unclear or goes wrong, blaming the user is not good for business.Round trip ticket from Milan Italy to Catania Sicily
Outbound from Milan was fine. Return to Milan was terrible. There was no notification that we had to check in online only. We checked in at the airport and had to pay $96 at a desk located at other side of the terminal. After that we found out that our baggage was not paid for in advance as we had expected and had to go back to the same desk and make a payment. All this going back and forth in the terminal took so much time that we nearly missed out flight back to Milan. I give Trip.com a half star. Avoid them at all cost..
A flight
I'll preface with I don't care about their threats. Anyway, I booked a flight a few weeks ago, and while I was finalizing the purchase, the page wouldn't load, so I refreshed. All of the fields were still populated, so I hit purchase again; everything worked as planned. Within a few minutes I realized when I refreshed the page, the dates defaulted to something other than what I wanted. I attempted to adjust it on the site, and it wouldn't work because of an "error" on their end. I called and sat on hold forever. Then as I described what had happened I got "disconnected" I called again, but had other things to do and couldn't sit on hold all day. I also sent an email was never responded to, so I just went ahead and did a chargeback with Amex. Today, I received poorly translated email from Trip saying they were going to involve the authorities and seek restitution. They also say in the email I was intentionally misleading. I really don't think I was, and I also really don't care. Don't fool with them.
Flight
Worst company I've ever dealt with. Absolute scam. Airline cancelled my flight and the agents lied to me and told me they couldn't get me another flight, even though that's my legal right. Plenty of seats for sale on the dates I wanted, including on their own website! As a result I've been unable to attend an important event I've been planning to go to for many months. They forced me into a refund they said would take weeks because of the airline. After arguing with them for many days, they have offered to "expedite" it for me so it would only take 5-7 working days (how? I thought it was the airline's fault it would take so long? Was that also a lie?). Also an insulting offer of $50 credit on their site, which I refused as I will never use their site again. My advice: avoid them. There are a lot of travel disruptions nowadays and this company is unregulated and operates out of China. You will not be protected if anything goes wrong. Book with a reputable company instead.
Tickets
Absolute nightmare. Don’t ever use this company this is my first and last time using them. I booked a trip to Jamaica in December of 2022. The airline changed the flight the day before departure. Tickets were canceled it’s now 8 months later and my money still has not been refunded. Trip.com and the carribean airlines have been going in circles for 8 months finger pointing instead of refunding my money.
Unprofessional garbage from both endsTicket with Emirates
Trip.com is happy to take your money when you are buying a ticket, but in case an airline cancels your flight and if you can’t pick an alternative date, Trip.com hides behind “airline policies” and the travel agent “can’t do anything about it”. Or, and that is my speculation, they just don’t want to do anything about it, as they would lose revenue. My flight with Emirates in July 2020 from Singapore to Munich was cancelled by the airline and all they offered me was US$ 138 of a US$ 953 ticket. My strong recommendation is to stay away from Trip.com and to buy flight tickets from the airlines directly.
flight
Book a flight on tuesday night, got an alert next morning not even 12 hours later that flight price dropped. Called to see if they would make the price adjustment or provide a curiosity and they would not. ... they should catch up with others that have the auto price adjustments
