I nearly passed on this because the photos made it look nicer than it might be, and I kept thinking shipping would do something — so yeah, I had doubts. When the Valborg 36" oak cabinet showed up there were white paint streaks and some spots where the finish wasn't done. That annoyed me, but Hernest's customer service actually handled it properly; they were quick to respond, offered a replacement or touch-up, and didn't make it awkward. I use the piece as a little drinks station in the kitchen — bottles, a few glasses, even a laptop sometimes — and it fits the job. It's not flawless, the paint issue shouldn't have happened, and delivery obviously needs work, but the quality of the repaired cabinet is solid. Would order again, just expect a bit of hassle.
Wrong-shade, slow fixes
Funny thing — the wood photos made everything look like it would match, but the table and chairs arrived with totally different tones, like night and day. I called first and was reassured multiple times that the pieces would be from the same batch, so that mismatch was the big disappointment and the thing that stuck with me. After emailing back and forth they said they’d issue a credit and even agreed to accept a return when I bought a different table from them that actually matched. Then the delay started — lots of promises, very little action, and their return policy wasn’t followed. I ended up filing a chargeback and only then did they start negotiating. That surprised me — I didn’t expect progress from that route, but it was a relief for a minute. Unfortunately the replacement table I paid for separately came damaged and I’ve already sent the repair bill. I’ve had better luck with other retailers and honestly I’m done trying to wait this out; I’ll be reinitiating chargebacks on the remaining items.
Damaged on arrival, so I said no thanks
I was standing there when the delivery guys lowered the set on the lift and you could instantly tell something was off. The boxes had long, clean cuts in them — not just dents, actual gashes — and when they opened the torn parts, the damage was obvious. The six-drawer dresser had one end crushed, like it had been slammed into something. The headboard had a straight-through split right down the middle. The five-drawer had scrapes and a busted foot. It didn’t feel like small wear-and-tear, it felt like structural damage. Tactilely, the wood at the break was rough and splintered; you could literally stick a finger in the crack and feel the interior layers. Not a good sign for furniture you expect to last.
Solid look, minor snag
a media console actually makes my living room feel like a room now.
