Before I got a low credit score of 521 with lots of debts and negative tradelines on my report which couldn’t get me approve on any loan or job.     Excursion and transportation

    Amstar at Haven Riviera, Cancun. We are a young couple on our honeymoon that are fresh out of college (aka not super financially stable). We booked an excursion through Amstar that we booked through the Amstar kiosk at our resort. My wife and I both got sick with food poisoning from a tour we took through Amstar. When we needed to cancel our tour; there was never anyone at the resort early enough, no email to contact, and no one answered the number we were given. The helpful front desk at our resort tried to call also, but yet again no answer. So, we couldn’t cancel our tour early enough therefore got zero percent of our money back. This hurt us huge and will never consider coming back to the area again. For us we would have liked to return since this is our first vacation ever/honeymoon, but I suppose not.

    So, the outcome of traveling with Amstar was brutal. We spent hundreds of dollars on nothing since they don’t refund even though we got sick from them. I told them our story and still they did not care to refund us a little of the money we rely on to live.

    This is not an all bad review. The other excursions were well done and easy for us. However, the flexibility and lack of customer service in times of need definitely makes it not worth going through Amstar or any other travel companies. Companies like Amstar need to treat their customers better to continue to grow their potential, but I suppose treating others well is not a part of their business plan.

    On another note, the transportation are always multiple people vans that pick you up. We had to go to multiple resorts and wait a long time for others to get on board. One stop we waited an extra 30 minutes because someone was late. This pushed our whole schedule back which in my opinion is unacceptable for the price we paid to be treated well. I could keep going on and on but I figured I should get to my recommendation.

    My recommendation is to always take a few moments to plan your own trip. Do not do anything through these companies. Take time to schedule a taxi and buy a ticket to wherever you desire on your own when you arrive or the day of. This will ensure that the wealthy companies that steal from people like me that don’t have much to my name, do not get your money.

    I am truly heartbroken from this scenario. This was the trip if my life and it got ruined from a poorly managed company. Please everyone who reads this review; try to not give these companies any business. They do not care one bit about the costumers that make their wealth possible.

    FLY FISHING Trip cancun

    We were in Cancun this weekend and went on a fly fishing trip organized by Cynthia at DMC - the tour guide was LUIS. It was a complete waste of time and money. In our 20 years of traveling it is the ONLY time I have paid for a tour/event and wish I had not. THe guide did not offer any tips on casting, placement or what we were fishing for. He came prepared with ONE lure and ONE fake worm. He did not change out bait the entire time. Typically when something isn't working you change it up often. We didn't even receive a nibble in four hours. This wouldn't matter if we felt like he tried to make it a great experience - but he could have cared less. It was AWFUL. $300 USD - wasted plus a day of our trip. I DO NOT recommend - Stay away from this company. I talked to the employees, and our email contact and was not offered any sort of refund. DO not book with DMC.

    excursion to Cozumel and Tumul Ruins

    1 STAR SERVICE

    Excursion to Cozumel - AMSTAR initially told us to be ready at 7:00 AM. Later left note to be in lobby at 6:15 AM. AMSTAR showed up at 6:58. Before booking this excursion we asked several times what time we would return since we had a student that need to complete an assignment by 11:00 PM. Told us we would return to Dreams by 7:00 PM. Returned to Dreams at 9:45 PM. Gave us no details as to who we would be meeting after ferry. Just dumped us off!

    Tulum Ruins - AMSTAR showed up late by 1 hr. Once we arrived we wasted another hr because there was a French couple registered as English speaking. There was no time to shop in Tulum once we toured the ruins. We also were separated from our group and lost for more than 1/2 hr. Worse experience of excursions ever.

    transportion to and from Secrets, Huatulco Airport

    I had booked AMstarDMC for our transfer service, unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because of Covid-19. Secrets reimbursed us immediately. However the transfer part was a total different story. The refund was to come within 5 or 10 days. No refund. I waited 2 weeks and was told it was processed and is out of their hands. I asked for back up to see where it went. No reply and no refund. Needless to say, I will not be hiring them for our next trip and definitely not recommend their company to anyone.

    Now Sapphire Resort Cancun

    I February 2020 we had a wonderful vacation at Now Sapphire-Cancun. However, upon our departure, we had a pair of headphones stolen from one of our bags. We had personally carried our bags from our room to Resort curbside. They were loaded by Amstar shuttle service. As shuttle pulled away from dropping us off at the airport and we picked our bags up from the sidewalk, we noticed a duffle bag seemed less full. Upon looking into the bag, it was discovered that a pair of headphones were missing. A shirt had been placed over them in the bag. The shirt remained. No headphones. I tried every avenue to report the incident but was met with doubt at every corner. First, we were told that the “airport representatives (did) not receive these comments at (our) arrival at the airport.” We explained that there were no reps to report it to at the airport at our departure and reported it upon our arrival home. Therefore, “(they) could not obtain authorization for compensation in this case”. Then it was, “As far as the alleged stolen item is concerned, the company does not accept responsibility for items left or lost that could have possibly gotten lost prior to boarding the transportation.” They were not left (except with Amstar transport) or lost prior to boarding. I pursued on without any success. This vacation was with a family of 5 for a price upwards of $10,000 USD. I certainly was not seeking a $180 reimbursement for this stolen item as to help pay for a tiny fraction of our cost! It is the principle! They are unwilling to take any responsibility. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
