Trustable Airline
Avianca has provided me with a great experience, especially the service is excellent and any technicality issues have been resolved very quickly.
I have flown to Colombia in business class and I can say that it was very pleasant, the value you get for the price is excellent.

I can't believe how bad this airline is. I tried booking my flight online and the website is a total mess. They say one thing is included in the "Basic" option, but then surprise surprise, you have to pay extra for your baggage. It's such a rip-off! And the staff? They are so rude and insensitive, it's like they don't even care about having you as a customer. And on top of all of that, I didn't even get the seat I wanted! What's the point of letting you choose your seat if they're not going to honor it? This airline is a complete joke.
Luggage pricing accuracy
The airline's baggage price calculator was a disaster. I punched in how many bags I was checking in, only to see the prices jump way higher than what was originally shown. That's not cool - it just makes the airline seem shady and untrustworthy. And if you wait until the last minute to buy luggage, the prices shoot up like crazy, which just stresses everybody out and hits our wallets hard. When I asked a customer service rep about it, I was shocked to hear that the airline can change luggage prices whenever they feel like it, making the online calculator useless. And then, when I tried to pay for the luggage, the credit card processing page had some annoying glitches that made an already tough situation even more of a pain.
International flight booking with connecting flights
I booked this international flight with connecting flights, and let me tell you, the first part was fine but the second part was a mess. Thanks to some bad weather, we got re-routed to a whole different city, making the journey longer and more annoying. When we finally made it to the connecting airport, there were problems with our tickets and we couldn't get on the next flight to where we needed to go. The airline didn't want to help us buy new tickets at first, which just made everything even more aggravating and stressful. Luckily, after a few hours, another airline came to the rescue and got us to our final destination.
Flight tickets
I've been noticing a drop in the airline's service lately. Flights have been delayed and the customer service just isn't what it used to be. It looks like the airline might be forgetting about its reputation and making customers happy. I usually fly with this airline in Colombia, where the service is a bit better, but they could definitely do better in their business model.
Lost luggage incident
My recent experience with the airline was really disappointing. When I got to where I was going, my luggage was missing. Even though I told them exactly where it was, they didn't try to get it back. That left me in a tough spot, having to buy clothes and stuff on my own. They're supposed to pay me back for all that, but so far they haven't done anything about it. Every time I ask, they just give me vague answers and keep putting it off. It's been weeks and they still haven't sorted it out.
Recent experiences with customer service
I just had a pretty bad time with their customer service team, and man, it was definitely not cool. The people there didn't seem to talk to each other at all! I kept getting different info and deadlines from whoever I talked to, which just messed things up even more. I tried so many times to fix things but it was clear their team wasn't on the same page, and not talking to each other only made things harder.
Bad airline experience
The airline was so rude, they kept asking me if I was from some random country, even after I showed them my passport. They singled me out for extra checks and then had the nerve to take a picture of my passport and send it on WhatsApp! Can you believe that? I tried reaching out to them for an explanation, but they never got back to me. I felt like a criminal the whole time, it was really scary. I definitely don't want to fly with them ever again!
Refund card issues
Unfortunately, dealing with that refund card from the flight I had to miss was a total nightmare. Even with a doctor's note, it was a real challenge to actually use the UATP card. I had to go into the office just to get help, and then when I finally did use it for another flight, dealing with the leftover balance was such a pain. The different answers I got from the office just made the whole thing so frustrating, and in the end, it felt like more trouble than it was worth. It's like those UATP cards are just meant to create problems, not fix them.
Flight booking struggle
I had the worst time trying to book a flight with this airline recently. The customer service reps were so unhelpful, clueless, and just terrible at talking to people. And don't even get me started on their website - it's so old and hard to use. When I tried to check-in online for my flight back to the US, they actually asked me, a US citizen, for a visa! It was so unnecessary and annoying. When I asked for help, they couldn't fix it, so I had to check-in at the airport where all the good seats were already taken. It was a mess and really put me off.
Flight booking experience
My recent experience with my flight booking was a total letdown. The connecting flight I had scheduled got canceled out of the blue, messing up my whole travel plan. And to top it off, when they re-booked me, I'll end up reaching my destination nearly a day later than I originally planned with a super long layover in between flights. When I tried to change to an earlier connecting flight, I was hit with crazy fees, which really got me down.
Not only did I have to deal with flight cancellations and re-booking issues, but my baggage also went missing even though they promised it would go all the way to my final stop. It just added to the headache of dealing with this airline.
And on top of everything else, the staff was no help at all. I was expecting some empathy and assistance, but all I got was a cold shoulder. The lack of customer service was a real letdown.
All in all, my whole experience with this airline was a total disaster. The extra costs, lost time, and ruined vacation enjoyment definitely cancel out any potential savings.Flight from NYC to Colombia
Awful experience! I can't believe how terrible this airline was. They didn't even offer us any water during a 5-hour flight! And they made you pay for a soda or a beer. It's ridiculous! And don't get me started on the forever wait for our connecting flight. Definitely steer clear of this airline!
