    Small hopes, big hassle

    I almost talked myself out of booking this trip because I picked a cheaper fare through a third‑party — figured I'd save some money and it would be fine. Turns out my nervousness wasn't unfounded. On Aug 4, 2025 at Toronto Pearson I had two normal bags plus a third and a fourth (the third is usually about $100, fourth a bit more), and a 50‑inch TV in a box. At the counter they hit me with a $311 charge for the third bag alone — which felt absurd — and then tried to charge over $400 for the TV. I was told they were charging for weight even though I'd always been charged for size before. One agent in particular (short, I think she was Asian) shut down any conversation — very curt, wouldn’t explain anything, and seemed more interested in closing up than helping. That stressed me out, and weirdly, while one staffer who weighed the luggage was patient and actually tried to sort it, they didn’t have the power to fix anything. In the end my flight got canceled — I was at the counter about 20 minutes before cutoff, so that part still feels wrong to me. I do wish the rules were clearer and that third‑party bookings were treated the same. I regret choosing this airline for a "national carrier" vibe; I won't book them from Toronto again unless things change. On the plus side, a couple of employees were genuinely helpful and not robotic, which surprised me and kept things from being a total disaster. If you fly with them, double‑check baggage allowances, bring proof of booking terms, and be ready to push back if needed.

    Seat drama and sharp customer reps

    keep copies of confirmations, call sooner rather than later, and maybe have a backup flight option if you're with small kids. Also, some patience helps but only up to a point — companies should meet customers halfway on stability and tone. I genuinely hope they sort out the booking stability and customer training, because the product onboard is fine, but the unpredictability and brusque service really spoiled several trips for us. Felt let down more than angry — just tired of avoidable fuss.

    Not great, but one small moment saved it

    they added extra baggage fees at the desk even though my booking showed allowance, and that felt like a bit of a money grab. I complained, filled forms, got bounced around, you know how it goes. I also signed up for their travel insurance because I thought it’d be simpler than dealing with paperwork later; turns out it wasn’t — claims were slow and I never got the payout I expected. So overall, mostly frustrated. But, and it’s a small but, there was one moment that actually made me feel like I hadn’t wasted my time. At the final airport a young ground agent took the time to wheel my bag, helped me to a quiet corner and actually apologized for the delays and the mess. He went out of his way to speed up a baggage search, and when my suitcase finally appeared he handed it over like he genuinely cared. That little human interaction — sincere, patient, not scripted — is what made me relax and say, okay, they can be messy, but not entirely hopeless. Still, I’d fly them only if alternatives were limited and I’d budget extra for surprises.

    Legroom that turned into a hallway

    don’t assume a pricier seat equals privacy from foot-traffic. If you really need space to sleep, try booking a row that isn’t used as a cross-aisle or check with the airline in advance about crew pathways. Overall I’m happy the holiday itself went well — the destinations were amazing and we made great memories — but I wish the “extra legroom” had actually felt extra. Still glad we went, and a bit thankful that a person did respond when I pushed for answers. Just be smart about which seats you buy.

    Bad office communication, robbery, bad flight experience

    The office in my city is seriously the worst. They never even pick up the phone when I call! So, when I finally decided to go in person, I ended up getting robbed at their gate. It was really scary, and I lost a bunch of my stuff. Also, my daughter flew with them recently and she said it was just awful - the plane was dirty, the food was gross, and overall it was just a terrible experience.

    This airline is the worst. The service is awful, the employees are miserable, and their apps and websites never work right. It's almost funny how bad they are at everything. I heard they make employees sign for a pen each year, which shows how cheap and miserable they are with their standards and customers. I can't wait to never fly with them again.

    Recent international flight

    I gotta say, my recent international flight was pretty disappointing. The boarding was just okay, but the ground staff wasn't very helpful. And don't even get me started on the food on the plane - it was boring and they kept serving the same thing. The flight attendants weren't all that friendly or quick with their service either. But the worst part was one of the bathrooms wasn't working right from the start, even though we told them about it when we got on. It stank up the whole place and made the whole flight not so great. Plus, the entertainment system was a mess - it hardly worked and wouldn't respond when I tried to use the buttons.

    Hey, so guess what? I received this email newsletter out of the blue that I never remember signing up for, and now I can't figure out how to unsubscribe from it. Seriously, I have no clue how they even got my email address! It's starting to drive me crazy because now my inbox is just overflowing with things that I am not interested in at all.     Dog travel arrangements

    I recently flew with an airline that I'd rather not mention. I had given them a heads up that I'd be bringing my dog along, but they dropped the ball on keeping me updated. On the day of our flight, I went through all the check-in steps, paid a pretty penny for my dog's ticket, and then out of nowhere, they told me my furry friend couldn't come because of some "issue" with the cargo area. Even though I had planned everything well in advance, they couldn't figure out a solution, so unfortunately, I had to leave my dog behind. To add insult to injury, the food options on the flight were less than impressive, and the service was downright unfriendly. The delays just made things worse, leaving me feeling pretty unhappy about the whole experience.

    Flight delay due to technical issues

    Our flight got delayed because of some technical problems, so now we're stuck here in Estonia. The staff didn't seem very useful or good at keeping us in the loop about what was going on. And to top it off, the speakers weren't working, so we couldn't hear any announcements or updates from the pilot. It was pretty chaotic and a major letdown overall.

    Oh man, my flight was a total disaster. No water on the plane and my luggage is MIA. Seriously, is this for real? And don't even get me started on trying to figure out what to do about my lost stuff. They just kept giving me the runaround with all these different phone numbers. It was beyond frustrating! I get that losing luggage can happen, but leaving your customers hanging like that? Not cool.

    Travel nightmare

    My trip from Dubai to Yaoundé with Ethiopian Airlines was a complete mess. The first flight was late, so I ended up missing my next flight. They just left us stuck in a room with no seats for like two hours without telling us anything. Eventually, they said we'd be put on a flight the next day. It was so annoying how they didn't keep us in the loop or seem to care about us passengers.

    I recently went on a flight and wasn't too happy with how the cabin crew treated me. I kept asking for hot water during tea time, but all they said was that they were only serving tea. Finally, an older lady felt sorry for me and gave me hot water. Also, when I needed help with my luggage, they just said no and told me to do it myself. It was really disappointing to get that kind of unhelpful and uncaring service, especially when I was hoping for a better experience.

    Wet luggage incident

    I had a really bad time with an airline recently when my bag got soaked on the flight. The flight attendants weren't helpful at all and just kept sending me to different people, avoiding taking any blame. When I tried to complain, they even threatened to call the cops but never did. It was a total mess and super disappointing. Just left me feeling really frustrated and disappointed.

    Trip from Harare to London with missing luggage and damaged suitcase

    I recently flew from Harare to London with a layover in Addis Ababa and man, did I have a rough time. When I arrived in London, one of my bags was missing! I spoke with the airport staff, but they were no help at all. They were so rude and basically told me to deal with it on my own. Eventually, the missing bag turned up, but it was all messed up! I tried calling the London office for help, but they were completely useless. They couldn't even give me basic info on where to go or who to talk to. I reached out via email to the luggage team about the damage, sending pics and all, but never heard back. I definitely won't be flying with this airline again and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else either.

    I had a really terrible time trying to book my flight. The website was a total mess. It seemed like it was made by someone who didn't know what they were doing with web design. Everything was all jumbled up, hard to find, and just not pleasing to look at. It's sad that a well-known airline would have such a low-quality website.     Damaged luggage compensation

    My experience with Ethiopian Airlines was really disappointing. When I got to Copenhagen, my hard-bodied suitcase was super messed up and there was no way to fix it. I told the airline right away and even sent pictures to back up my claim, but they never got back to me. I sent a bunch of emails that they totally ignored, so I had to go to their office in Copenhagen with my boyfriend to talk to someone about it in person. They finally said they would give me 400Dkk to make up for it, but it's been forever and I still haven't seen a dime. They're not answering my emails at all. The customer service at Ethiopian Airlines is really terrible, and they're not acting professionally at all. It's so disappointing to see them not caring about their customers or even basic customer service.

    My experience with this airline was terrible. They cancelled my flight without telling us, leaving me and other passengers stuck at the airport for 3 hours with no updates. When we finally got on the plane, we had to wait inside for 3 more hours with no clear reason. The employees were no help at all, they wouldn't give us any information and even lied to us. This lack of transparency and bad customer service is not okay. I ended up getting to my destination a day late because of the cancelled flight, and to top it off, they didn't even offer a refund for the trouble. Overall, this was one of the worst airline experiences I've ever had.

    Flight experience from Copenhagen to Zanzibar

    I recently traveled from Copenhagen to Zanzibar using Ethiopian Airlines. When I first saw the old and worn-out planes, I got a little worried, but the staff completely made up for it. They were so fantastic and gave us top-notch service. They even went out of their way to take care of my daughter, who is scared of flying, and made sure she had a really great flight. Even though the planes were older, I would definitely suggest flying with this airline because of the amazing service we received.
