Mediocre experience with TotalHome Warranty by HomeServe
I recently purchased a TotalHome Warranty from HomeServe and overall, I'm pretty happy with the service.
One of the things I like most about the company is that they offer a variety of coverage plans to choose from. This was really helpful for me because I was able to select a plan that fit my specific needs and budget.
Another thing I appreciate is that their customer service is pretty responsive. I've had to file a couple of claims so far, and each time I received a call back within a reasonable amount of time. The representative I spoke with was also knowledgeable and helpful.
The only downside is that the claims process can be a bit tedious. It requires filling out a bunch of forms and providing documentation, which can be a bit of a hassle. But overall, it's not a major issue.
Overall, I would recommend TotalHome Warranty by HomeServe to others. It's provided me with peace of mind knowing that I have coverage for unexpected home repairs.Power issue and thermostat repair
I got this warranty thing from my electric company and had to call them up when the neutral leg got messed up and my thermostat transformer blew. HomeServe set up an appointment real quick and their guy Roy showed up early. He knew his stuff, got everything fixed up with no problems. If it wasn't for HomeServe, I would've ended up paying a lot more for the repair. I was really happy with the service and how knowledgeable Roy was.
Electrical plan purchase
I recently bought an electrical plan and I've gotta say, the service I got was top-notch. The people I talked to were really smart, friendly, and polite. Plus, when I used the automated line after hours, they scheduled my service super fast. The Homeserve team really impressed me with their professionalism and know-how.
Drainage repair service
I had the worst experience with a drainage repair service recently. They kept sending unskilled technicians from a specific company, even though I specifically asked for someone else. The first technician they sent said there was a covered drain causing the smell in my house, but ended up making things worse. Not only did he leave a mess, but he also charged me a ridiculous amount to fix my shower, which didn't even fix the problem. Every time I requested a different company, they sent the same one, and the issue persisted. The lack of communication between the company and the technicians was terrible. HomeServe's customer service was disappointing too, they didn't seem to care about my concerns. Overall, it was a complete disaster.
Overflowing water from washing machine
I had this awful experience with a service that was supposed to fix the overflowing water from my washing machine. The first technicians they sent were late and didn't really fix the problem. Then the next guy showed up late too, and he wouldn't even help because he thought it wasn't a big deal. On top of that, he was rude and argumentative when I asked about the delay. I ended up canceling my plan with them right after that whole mess.
Central air conditioning repair
I just got my central air fixed at home. The repair guy figured out I needed a new motor and said he'd order it. But then he disappeared without telling me when it'd arrive or when it'd be installed. I spent a week sweating buckets, trying to get info from customer service folks who didn't seem to know what was up. It took more than a week for the part to finally show up, leaving me without AC for way too long. I was super let down and annoyed by the whole lack of communication and slow progress.
Boiler tune-up appointment
I had set up an appointment back in November 2021 to have my boiler checked out, but it didn't go as planned. The technician never came, and the appointment got called off because of some mix-up. I was pretty bummed about the whole situation and felt like the repair department could've done better with keeping me in the loop. On the bright side, the billing department was on the ball and did a solid job handling my request to cancel. So, at least there was some good that came out of this mess.
Sneaky automatic renewal
I was totally caught off guard by the automatic renewal of my service contract. I didn't get any heads up, but my contract got renewed without me even knowing. I only realized what happened when I saw a charge in January for a service that had already ended in December. It's super frustrating to be forced to pay for something I didn't even ask for or approve!
Routine boiler maintenance
We just had a tech come over for our annual gas boiler check-up. They changed the pilot light, but ended up shutting down the whole system because of soot and high CO2 levels. Now we're left with no heat on the coldest day of the year. They're saying we need to call a plumber now.
Difficulty purchasing warranty
I tried to buy a home warranty from this company, but man, it was a mess. I couldn't pay online with my credit card no matter what I did. Turns out there were seven pending charges on my American Express account. So, I ended up just canceling the whole thing.
Water meter box broken coverage
So I had this broken water meter box, right? I reached out to the service provider for help, only to find out that it wasn't covered under the policy. They told me it was considered an act of God, which just made me mad and frustrated with the service. It felt like I was paying for coverage that didn't really protect me like I thought it would. The customer service I got during this whole thing was pretty lacking and left a lot to be desired. Overall, my experience with the service was a letdown, and I would recommend others to really look over the coverage details before signing up for a policy.
Water, sewer, and gas line repair coverage
I bought some home repair coverage which includes fixing water, sewer, and gas lines on my property, all the way out to the street. I'm having trouble getting clear info from the company about the "Plan Limits" on my coverage. They mention these limits in their commercials too. They say repairs are covered up to these limits, but when I asked for details, I was told it only goes up to a certain number of feet from my house to the street. I tried to find out the exact footage, but they said only a contractor would know after a claim is filed and measurements are taken. This lack of transparency worries me because I'm concerned that if I need to file a claim, the "Plan Limits" might not cover all the repairs. The vague answers from customer service make me wonder why they're not sharing such crucial info and only telling contractors when a claim is made.
Home repair service plan
I just bought a home repair service plan and let me tell you, it was a total letdown. Spent hours trying to get in touch with someone, and when I finally did, the wait time was just ridiculous. I wouldn't suggest wasting your money on this service.
Gas line warranty dispute
Man, let me tell you about my experience with that gas line warranty from the company - it was a total letdown. I've been with them since 2018, counting on them for any repairs I needed. But in January 2023, when I had a $4000 repair, they straight up said no dice. Their excuse? I sold the house in February 2023, and the new owner wasn't interested in their services, so they wouldn't cover the repair. Like, seriously? I felt so frustrated and totally disappointed by their lack of help and honesty. Definitely wouldn't recommend their warranty services - seems like they don't back up their word.
