20 they finally called us and the whole tone changed. The rep wanted another charge, said "taxes not included" and that "we don’t work with third parties" — despite the prepaid reservation and insurance. He even refused the additional driver we'd paid for through the booking.
It felt like we were arguing for something already paid for, and that’s the worst because I’m not the kind of person who wants a fight on vacation. Long story short: after digging through the voucher, calling someone who sounded like a manager, and me repeating the reservation details, we paid a small extra amount (yeah, weirdly specific $15.70) just to get the keys. The car itself was fine — drove perfectly, no issues — and for that I’m thankful. Still, losing almost an hour and a half before we even left, and being told our return time wouldn’t be adjusted, was frustrating. Feels unfair: if they’re late, we don’t get time back, but if we’re late we get penalized.
I’ve used the booking site a bunch of times and they’ve usually been rock solid, so this was a surprise. I’m writing because the delivery and customer service were the real problems here, not the car. They should sort the coordination with their partners or stop listing companies that won’t honor prepaid things. I’ll likely pick a different provider next time, but grateful it wasn’t a total disaster — we made the trip work, just with extra stress.Right away
