Accumulated loyalty points lost due to inactivity
I've been a member for more than twenty years, but recently lost all my loyalty points because I wasn't active. Even though I reached Gold status twice, the company changed their policy on point expiration and wiped out my 86,000 points with no heads up. It was really disappointing. So, I just want to warn others to be careful with loyalty programs because your points could vanish if you're not active.
Cancelled booking voucher code issue
My recent experience with IHG has been really disappointing and frustrating. I canceled a booking a few weeks ago and was given a voucher code to use on my next booking. But when I tried to use the code with central reservations, I just kept getting bounced between them and the hotel I originally booked with. Nobody was able to help me apply the voucher code, and when I reached out to IHG rewards, they told me the code wasn't valid. It was just really sad to see such a lack of coordination and communication between the teams.
Diamond Elite member support
I was trying to get help as a "Diamond Elite" member, but when I called their special support number, it said "call can not be completed as dialed" - seriously? Then I had to chat with a bot (ugh) before actually getting to speak with a real person. Finally got things sorted out by calling the hotel directly. Their support number definitely needs some fixing.
Constant unwanted phone calls
IHG keeps calling me and then just hanging up. It's like they're playing pranks with phone numbers or something. And when you try to call them back, they stick you on hold forever. If you do finally get through to someone and ask to stop getting their spam, they just hang up on you. It's so frustrating, definitely not a good way to do business. Seems like a total scam, watch out!
Stay at a hotel
I had a pretty bad time at a hotel that's part of the IHG brand. I ran into some problems while I was there, and the customer service just wasn't up to par. Even after I tried to fix the issues I was having, it seemed like no one really took me seriously or tried to help. The whole situation left me feeling really annoyed and let down.
Discriminatory incident
I wanted to let you know about something that happened at your place that really bothered me. One of your workers unfairly assumed a Black woman was sneaking in for breakfast when she was actually staying at the hotel. Instead of handling it calmly, the employee called the cops on her, which made the situation worse. It was obvious from the video that the employee acted in a disrespectful and unprofessional way. Even after realizing the mistake, no one said sorry, and the guest couldn't stay longer. I'm really let down by how nobody took responsibility or showed any empathy in this situation.
Loyalty points redemption
I'm really annoyed because I couldn't update my delivery address after moving. How does a website not have a feature as simple as that? It's so frustrating because now I can't even use my points. And to make matters worse, booking through this company is way too expensive. What ever happened to valuing customer loyalty?
Double booking issue
I had a problem with a double booking at one of the hotels in this chain, which ended up costing me over $300 in fees. Even after trying to get help from the hotel management several times, I didn't hear back at all. I also tried to contact corporate IHG, but they weren't able to assist me either. It was really frustrating and unprofessional that neither the hotel management nor corporate level were able to communicate or help me out. I suggest avoiding this hotel and any others in the same chain.
Dining experience at the restaurant
I was really let down by my recent visit to the restaurant. When I go out to eat, I want to be treated with respect and get good service. My sister and I went for lunch, and after we ordered, the staff came up to us and told us we had to pay before we even got our food. It made us feel awkward and like they didn't want us there. We tried to tell them we wouldn't skip out on the bill, but they didn't seem to believe us. It felt like they were singling us out and treating us unfairly.
Rewards points issue
My stay at the hotel was pretty standard for this chain, but I ran into a big issue when I tried to use my rewards points for gift cards. I was eagerly waiting for my McDonald's and Amazon gift cards to show up in the mail, but they never came. It turns out that they were not actual physical cards, but instead just some digital codes or downloads, which was not clearly explained on the website. The customer service people I talked to were not helpful at all and seemed to be dodging the problem. It really feels like they're trying to trick customers into missing out on their rewards.
Overpriced, disappointing stay
Our hotel stay was such a letdown. From the moment we got there, we could tell things weren't going to be great. The room was rundown and depressing, we even had to get it sprayed for bugs. The dining experience at this hotel was fantastic, the service was outstanding. Anu, one of the staff members, really took care of us during dinner. The food was delicious, especially the Carbonara. We also enjoyed watching the Cup Final, which added to the great atmosphere. Anu made our dinner truly unforgettable with their attentive and friendly service.
Flexible booking at hotel
I recently booked a hotel room through the IHG website, with a flexible booking option. I originally chose dates in May but later switched them to June. I got a confirmation email for the June dates and all seemed good. However, two days before my planned stay, I oddly received a welcome email for the May dates instead. Turns out, their system messed up and reverted my booking back to the old dates. I tried getting help through their chat feature, but I had to go through some bots before finally getting connected to a real person. After explaining everything and showing my June confirmation email, they still couldn't figure it out. They kept saying my trip was for May when it wasn't. I tried to explain it multiple times, but they just gave me generic responses that didn't help. Frustrated and worried about being charged for not showing up, I ended up canceling my booking. The whole ordeal left me disappointed with IHG's customer support and communication skills.
Staying in hotel
My family and I were at Staybridge Plano Texas for 75 days and it was amazing! Luis Sanchez was incredibly helpful and always ready to assist us. The rest of the staff were awesome too, you could see they respected Luis as their boss. Staybridge Plano Texas really impressed us!
Compensated points for previous bad experience
I want to share my feedback about my visit to your Savannah location last year. I had a really bad experience there, but you guys gave me some points to make up for it. I had 80000 points, but when I tried to use them recently, they were gone. Apparently, they expired before I used them. That doesn't feel like fair compensation for my awful stay. Also, during my 3-day visit, housekeeping never cleaned my room, so I had to talk to the manager every single day about it.
Review of recent best price guarantee experience
I had this experience with a supposed best price guarantee deal that just really got under my skin. So, here's the deal - I found a better price on a third-party site and tried to get a price match. But get this, even though they claim to have the best price guarantee, I got an email saying they wouldn't give me the match because the other site didn't meet some sort of qualification. I asked for more info on this in the terms and conditions, but never heard back. What a letdown.
Booking Disappointment
I had a really frustrating situation with this fancy hotel chain that always talks about their top-notch perks. I've been a loyal customer for so long, so I finally wanted to use my Diamond Elite benefits by booking a room ahead of time. But to my disappointment, they told me that my room wasn't guaranteed even though I booked it 72 hours in advance. This was one of the main reasons I joined this program in the first place, so it's really disappointing to see that they didn't follow through on their promises.
Stay at Stevenage
Oh my gosh, the staff at the hotel I stayed at was just amazing! Kim was seriously the best, always smiling, super helpful, and just a joy to be around. She's so smart and stylish, like Kate Middleton. IHG should definitely take notes from Stevenage!
Stay at a hotel
The hotel let a well-known person hide security camera footage of a crime they did, which is just not right. I won't ever back a brand that cares more about money than doing what's right and keeping people safe. It's unsettling to think that shady stuff like this is going on at a hotel that's supposed to be a trustworthy and secure place for guests.
Family stay for softball tournament
We were in town for a softball tournament and stayed at the hotel with our family. When we got there, they told us the lobby was closed, but we could use a meeting room and the pool. Since we had a big group, we were hoping there would be a spot for us to all hang out if we needed. However, when we tried to have a quick team meeting on the first night, they kicked us out of the meeting room and gave us a hard time in other parts of the hotel. The lack of help and customer service was really frustrating, especially from a nice hotel like this. We've stayed at other hotels that were being renovated and never got treated so poorly.
